Y21 WOMAN #10 / JUNGMIN LEE
Y21: Why did you decide to start @ksisters.sg?
Jungmin: To introduce to my two daughters, the world of Korean kids' fashion. Subsequently, it became a platform of my personal favourites of Korean brands across fashion, beauty, lifestyle, and food alike.
Jungmin: Attending Chinese classes in the mornings. Followed by several meetings thereafter, which includes content creation with my marketing team and brand collaborations in Korea via Zoom.
Y21: What challenges do you face in your day-to-day life?
Jungmin: To be present for both my company and my kids at the same time. At the moment, I work from home with my marketing team. So in a way, I can be around my kids. By trusting my team and my kids, allowing them to be more self-managing, along with my guidance is just as effective too.
Y21: Where do you look for creative inspiration?
Jungmin: I will look at Korean Instagram accounts a lot! Korean dramas in Netflix also ensures my better understanding on the latest trends.
Y21: What's your personal style?
Jungmin: I adore bright colours and easy styling clothes. It gives me happy vibes and how it influences the people around me.
Y21: What makes you happy?
Jungmin: When our #ksistersfam appreciates our hard work, as well as my kids expressing their love towards their mum.
Y21: What does freedom mean to you?
Jungmin: Freedom to choose what I like and to pursue in my life. To become like that, I need to grow myself and ksisters altogether.
Y21: Any tips on maintaining a healthy work life balance?
Jungmin: I try to intentionally fit in a short break every 3 months. Mini trips or just a couple days off, hence I can pause awhile and refresh my ideas. It is essential to take regular breaks, so you won't be burnt out easily.
Y21: You’re a mum and an entrepreneur. How do you balance your time between the two?
Jungmin: First I embraced the fact that there is no concept of perfect work/life balance in reality. I've also stopped comparing my lifestyle with others. If I take a full rest always, I can not think ahead to be honest. Therefore I redefined the definition for work/life balance for myself. I feel balanced when I feel I can control, to plan in my life and schedule. That is why I try to sit down on Sundays, even at the end of the month or quarter solely to organise.
Y21: What advice would you give to young or aspiring entrepreneurs?
Jungmin: Nothing comes in a day. Thus you have to be ready to hustle for days, months, and years if you are going for the entrepreneurship route. Everyone has passions in the beginning, but not many passions lasted from my observation. Do set out to build a system for you to reignite your passion, without risking too much so you can keep going! :)
